The Ran Empire was a militaristic apocalyptic theocracy rooted in the Ranien mountains. Its rulers, stylized through the Rakashu line, held that civilization threatened natural order and that sacrifice and civilizational destruction could prevent apocalypse.
Conquest of Hyuna
Ran expansion devastated the Hyuna River super valley, reduced subject populations, and converted surviving communities into tributary systems supplying discounted goods, forced labor, and human victims. The Ran briefly treated early Ceresia as a unique protectorate after recognizing Jun as a balancing divine force.

The revocation of Ceresia's protected status led to the wars that expanded Ceresian power and encouraged the formation of Daiyo as a sister and successor claimant in Hyuna. Later Daiyo campaigns destroyed Ran power and left the ethnicity effectively extinct or hidden in historiographical uncertainty.
